This story is part of the Wanderer series.
The air was cold. The sun was damp. All around, nothing but white. A dull, hazy white. Nearly pure. Subtle features, lightly defined, revealed themselves as they slowly drifted apart, these soft tufts each moving at their own pace.
In the midst of this sea, a faint figure, levitating in place as the features moved around her. Moved past her. Hands by her sides, robes drifting with the wind, her eyes were closed, concentrating. Then, slowly and deliberately, her arms raised out in front of her, spread at an even angle apart from her sides, wrists slightly limp. They hung there for a moment, unmoving. Waiting.
Gradually, the world slowed. The air grew heavier. The breeze subsided. A low hum emerged. Through the flat, hazy canvas, shadows appeared as Chiyoko orchestrated her power, a faint glow outlining her silhouette. Her arms remained completely still, solidly rooted to an invisible wall. Her clothes no longer moved with the wind, now frozen in place pointing away from her core.
Then, there was a ripple. The frozen world shifted. Some way in the distance, a border appeared. A concentric border, revealed as it drew in.
